From May 19 to 26, at Tien Son Sports Palace, Da Nang City, Nhan Dan Newspaper coordinated with the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department, Vietnam Table Tennis Federation, and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City to organize the 43rd Nhan Dan Newspaper National Table Tennis Championship for the PetroVietnam-PVCFC Cup in 2025.

At a press conference on the afternoon of May 12, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Que Dinh Nguyen, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee of the tournament, said that this is an annual national top tournament, with prestige and tradition, organized under the direction of the Party Central Committee Secretariat since 1982.

With the support of the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee. Da Nang and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, this year's National Table Tennis Championship attracted the participation of nearly 200 athletes from 21 professional table tennis delegations of provinces, cities, industries and enterprises nationwide, including strong table tennis centers such as: Hanoi, Hai Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, Army, People's Police - T&T... The tournament officially opened at 3:00 p.m. on May 19 and closed at 3:00 p.m. on May 26.

"This year's tournament promises high professional quality and competition because there are national players who have just undergone long-term training and competition abroad, along with young athletes who have just achieved high results at the 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Championship and the participation of many new table tennis delegations. This shows the strong development of top-level table tennis and the Vietnamese table tennis movement", Mr. Que Dinh Nguyen informed.

Athletes will compete in 7 events: men's team - women's team, men's singles - women's singles, men's doubles - women's doubles and mixed doubles.

This year's tournament continues to have the participation of many potential young players, who can create interesting usurpations and overthrows against strong and veteran players of the country's table tennis, such as: Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, Nguyen Duc Viet, Nguyen Van Tuan Anh...

The tournament is the basis for the Vietnam Sports Department and the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation to select top players for the national team to attend the 33rd SEA Games and international competitions in the coming time; at the same time, for delegations to prepare for the National Sports Festival in 2026 and contribute to encouraging and promoting the sports training movement in general, table tennis in particular, of the whole country.

The Organizing Committee said that the selection of seeds and the draw for the groups will be based on the achievements of the 2024 National Table Tennis Championship. Accordingly, the men's and women's team categories will compete in the Swaythling format (each team consists of 3 athletes competing in 5 singles matches) and divided into two stages.

The first stage will divide the groups into round-robin groups to rank in the group; the second stage will be a knockout competition. In the team category, men's and women's singles will compete in 5 games to win 3. In the men's and women's singles categories, the knockout competition will be 5 games to win 3 (except for the semi-finals and finals, the matches will be 7 games to win 4). Men's doubles, women's doubles and women's doubles are in a 5-game knockout format.

There will be 7 sets of medals (each set has one first prize, one second prize, two third prizes) awarded according to the regulations of the Vietnam Sports Administration and the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation. In addition, there are 2 promising prizes for the two best young male and female athletes, along with two awards for localities that actively build the table tennis movement and the localities that host the tournament.

The tournament will be broadcast live on VTV8 channel of Vietnam Television and rebroadcast on a number of local TV channels, and on social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and on the fanpage "The 43rd National Table Tennis Championship of Nhan Dan Newspaper".
